Now this story came out yesterday about it...

'Farscape' rocketing off into oblivion
The Wichita Eagle

Yes, "Farscape" fans, it's true.

The Sci-Fi Channel has canceled the popular space adventure series known for its incredible special effects and tongue-in-cheek humor in the middle of its fourth -- and now last -- season.

The actual cancellation came about a month ago, according to Sci-Fi spokesman Kat Stein.

But most fans didn't get an inkling until Tuesday's comic strip, "Fox Trot," in which the computer-nerd son launched a petition to get the channel to reconsider "this outrage."

"Got an entire family here in disbelief. Any details?" wrote Danny Guthrie in an e-mail to The Eagle after reading the comic strip.

"Our family never considered ourselves fans of science fiction. When some co-workers introduced us to 'Farscape' last year, we were pleasantly surprised," said Kay Priess.

"We can't believe that this show would be canceled without the story being finished. I checked with others at work and none of them had heard about its cancellation," Priess said.

"I'm not surprised," e-mailed Joe Ludlum. "They're (Sci-Fi programmers) are probably hiding in shame after the big to-do they made last year regarding their 'historic two-year renewal' of the show."

Sci-Fi's Stein agreed that the cancellation negates the two-year deal.

"Escalating costs and sliding ratings," Stein said simply.

"But it will be back in January for 11 more shows so tell your fans there are still new episodes left," she added.

The series deals with a lost astronaut, a living ship and a motley band of alien renegades traversing the universe on an epic odyssey. It's from the Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment.

The return date hasn't been released yet, but the series will probably run its course by April, Stein said. Sci-Fi is cable Channel 70 in Wichita.

Yup, the Foxtrot cartoon did a LOT of good, reached people that the "movement" couldn't. We're still out there, we're still trying, that's for sure. Never say die!
