What would be a good material that could play convincingly as cotton candy?

I thought of Polyfill, but I think it would be too fine. That fur from Etsy looks great, but rather pricey.

Fur isn't cheap, $20.95/yard from Mendels, but its the best price I could quickly find for a pink cotton candy color. Nice thing is they'll send samples.

Did this years ago... I took polyfill and dabbed it with a pink crayola marker, and then I just "rubbed" in it. I put it on a cotton candy paper cone and it looked pretty believable.
