Granted this was on a Disney Cruise, IIRC. Steve had done Con appearances with Kermit on hand, but I don't think Disney would allow the puppeteers to go onto a talk show like Jim did.
It's official. The campaign is dead. Just got the email from Hasbro saying that my card will not be charged, and the product will not be made. Such a shame, it wasn't even close.
There was a livestream on YouTube of the D23 Panel, and while there is no visual, you can hear the teaser. Really doesn't reveal anything about the show, as the whole gag is that this "Legal Weasel" is preventing Kermit from saying anything
How exciting! Not sure what to expect from an unscripted Muppet series, but it's great for Disney to be using them again.
Also, I brightened up the image, and it looks like all the blacked-out text is just gibberish.
God, how I wish this wasn't crowdfunded. There's no way we're gonna get to 3,000 backers at this rate. I was so excited to have another replica after all these years, but the goal is just set too high, I'm afraid.
Hopefully,
A. Hasbro puts this thing on display at Comic Con, therefore getting a lot of foot traffic, and...
B. Sesame Street shares the crowdfunding campaign on their social media. They've got over a million likes on Facebook, so that could bring some people in.
I don't know. 3,000 just...
Just a quick heads up to you (and to anybody else reading this). If you don't pre-order it during the kickstarter, you will not be able to purchase it. The product will only be made available to the people who backed the product, and your only chance to buy it afterwards would be on eBay at a...
I am an absolute sucker for Photo Replicas. Was bummed when EFX never produced Rizzo, and disappointed when nobody picked up the license. Needless to say, I am now a proud backer of this campaign. 3,000 backers is a lot, so I'm not quite sure if they are going to reach it, but one can only hope!
Disney is usually pretty tight about maintaining the appearance of The Muppets as real living beings rather than puppets, whereas Sesame Street is often more open to showing a behind the scenes look. I think they mainly just don't want photos of a lifeless Kermit puppet floating around the...
I mean, the plot sounds interesting. Weird that they are centering it around Rowlf, who isn't the first character who would come to mind when you ask someone to name a Muppet, but I dig it. It seems like the plot would lend itself better to a movie than a TV show, but hey, I'm just happy to hear...
The Fozzie "on display" now has had a lot of work done. The one picture in the article from 2006 is how he has looked for the longest time (deteriorating, smushed face, etc.) Now he just looks like a cartoon plush doll.
So is this supposedly a "The Muppets" reboot, or is a full blown "The Muppet Show" reboot? Because when the prospect of the ABC show was first announced, the media framed it as a "The Muppet Show" reboot (which it turned out not to be)
To be fair, I don't think they had that many days either to rehearse at the Hollywood Bowl. We know that they've been rehearsing the show for a while now, just not on that exact stage.
All I'm saying is that this really better become a touring show. This seems like the perfect time for a live tour, and the audience reception from both Hollywood Bowl and O2 has been overwhelmingly positive. Fingers crossed!
What I don't understand is why they filmed so many of these a while back. It would make more sense to reshoot some of the Kermit ones now (it wouldn't be that hard) to show Matt's improvement. Even just dub over it!
This has been on eBay for around a month now. I believe it's the same person who has been trying to sell this prototype for many years now on a different site. I think someone on this forum tried to buy it from him once, but the seller got cold feet. He has always been asking for this much, and...
