    R.I.P. Jerry Lewis

It's just been reported today that the famous and legendary comedian Jerry Lewis has passed away at age 91. Definitely sad and shocking...he was one of my comic idols. Now he's up there with Dean Martin, entertaining everyone from above the clouds.

Sesame Street Muppets answer questions on Wired

WIRED Magazine just released a video today featuring several of the show's popular Muppet characters answering Google autocomplete questions. Quite a few interesting answers here (and I love Elmo's "BOOOOOOI!" bit)...

    Puppets in beds

I've been curious for a while on how they make this illusion. They've done this a lot on Sesame Street both with beds on high-rise stands and on floors. Do they use like a real mattress but make a big hole in it for the performers, or do they have bed sheets that cover up prop boxes...(you can...

Zoe at the 2012 All-America City Awards conference

Apologies if this has been posted before, but I just found today a video of Zoe making an appearance alongside Dr. Michael Levine at the All-America City Awards in Denver back in 2012. There's not a lot of coverage on this event, which makes it pretty rare, but it's a fun clip. I liked how Zoe...

You read that right. Legendary actor Kirk Douglas is now officially a centenarian! http://time.com/4596395/kirk-douglas-100/ Let me just say that I am so happy he's reached 100...for several years I hoped it would happen, and here he is, a fresh centenarian and still doing well today. :)

"Walking" effect on Sesame Street - how do they do it?

I've been curious to know exactly how they achieve this effect. I've heard the most common method is the puppeteer sits on a really low stool with wheels, and they scoot along the floor while one or both of their arms is up, but there's some instances where a live-hand character (i.e. Telly...

Happy (Belated) 70th Birthday, Dave Goelz

Huh? Nobody remembered about this? The man who brought us that famous weirdo alien Gonzo turned 70 years old five days ago on July 16th. I think it's wonderful that he turns 70 the same year he gets honored for his 40 years of puppetry. Ah, well...happy belated birthday Dave, and many more to come!

    Blowing bubbles

I was watching some of Sesame Street episode #3155 on YouTube, and there's a scene where Zoe starts blowing bubbles. I've been wondering about this for a while, and haven't really found a definite answer, but how are they able to do this trick? There's a later instance in #3877 where Elizabeth...

    R.I.P. Prince (1958-2016)

Wow...I didn't expect this to happen. Just shocking. So, what's going to happen to his music now? Will they give in and finally allow it on YouTube?

How did Elmo and Zoe's legs move?

I wasn't sure where to post this topic, because this kind of pertains to Elmo and Zoe specifically (I don't know if this happened with other characters), but I decided to ask here. I've been trying to figure out how they were able to make the legs on Elmo and Zoe move whenever their whole...

    Ostrich plume hair question

Apologies if there is already a thread about this, but is there any way to prevent ostrich plumes from getting in the way of a puppet's face? I've got a couple of puppets which have ostrich plumes for hair, and often times some of the plumes will kind of sag and cover the eyes when the puppet is...

Keith Haring cartoons from the early '90s

Remember those awesome cartoons from the early 1990s that featured Keith Haring's artwork, and aired until around the early 2000s? I thought we could have a thread for discussing those segments. There were seven cartoons made, and as far as I know, they all debuted in Season 24. They were: -...

Sonia Manzano featured on Fox News Sunday

I just caught Fox News Sunday interviewing Sonia Manzano in their last segment of the show. They showed a few clips of her from her early appearances, like "The People in Her Neighborhood" and "What's the Name of That Song?". She mentioned some interesting things in her interview, such as how...

Why haven't some older videos been re-released?

So after DVDs started to become popular in the late 1990s/early 2000s, many Sesame Street videos that were distributed by Random House and Sony Wonder were re-released on the new format, and eventually through digital media. However, for some reason, a bunch of videos originally released between...

    Hullaballoo

Somebody mentioned online this was a Jim Henson program, but I'm not 100% sure Henson was involved anywhere, so I'm placing this thread here in dubiety. If there's no Henson involvement whatsoever, this probably can be moved to the General Discussion board. So, in the mid-1990's, there used to...
