I got THE ODD COUPLE on DVD last year, and each episode of Season 1 has an audio intro by Garry Marshall, sharing a little bit of trivia about each one - he talks just like his sister Penny: all slow, with that drawn-out and exaggerated Bronx accent - something both Tony Randall and Jack Klugman loved to point out. In fact, Tony once shared an anecdote from when they were filming the episode where Felix believed he suddenly had psychic powers: there was a line that wasn't even a joke or a punchline, but Tony cracked up when Garry directed him on how to say it because it sounded hilarious when said in his slow, New York way.

But, that being said, it's sad that we've lost yet another one of the greats.

Truly sad to lose such a talented person as Gary Marshall.

The memory I have stuck in my head are Gary as the Devil in two different instances.
The first, was when he was dressed in costume as the Devil; with his sister Penny as his character's wife dressed as Medusa in Disney/Touchstone's 1992 Hocus Pocus.
The second was when he was the voice artist for the Devil in the episode of Pinky and The Brain where Pinky signed a Faustian contract so Brain could finally rule the world, which was nullified because the rose-flower vegetable peeler stipulated in the contract in exchange for Pinky's soul couldn't be replicated.

Rest in peace indeed Gary Marshall. :batty:

You couldn't live in the 70's without a Garry Marshall sitcom on ABC.
The Odd Couple and Mork still hold up fairly well. Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley, not so much. Happy Days went downhill after Fonzie jumped the shark (and adding a new term to TV lexicon). The final straw should've been when Arnold's burned down, but they squeezed at least three more seasons out of it.
Laverne and Shirley hit the skids when they moved to California. It kinda strained credibility trying to believe these people with disco pants and haircuts are still in the 50's.

One other footnote/urban legend: the short-lived spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi was huge in Korea, since Chachi supposedly means... a certain male appendage desirable to many girls.

Thank you, Garry, for keeping your corner of Paramount Studios humming for years.
P.S. Happy Days fans. Whatever happened to Chuck?

I agree with you on HD and L&S. Of course, we can't forget (as much as we'd like to!) the seasons of HD after Richie and Ralph Malph left. Not to mention Laverne & Shirley without Shirley!

P.S. - The story Garry used to tell fans who wrote in letters during HD's heyday was that Chuck is on a 12 years basketball scholarship to the University of Outer Mongolia.
