Don't forget Kirby: Right Back At Ya!, although that was good though.
I can't help blame 4Kids' terrible business sense for that one not being as successful as it should have been. There were all these grand plans of toylines and making Kirby the next Pikachu that went nowhere. F Zero, however, I don't think anyone could have made that look good. No matter who dubbed it, it just wasn't that good a show.

But yeah. Unless you count still on for kindergarteners in its native Japan Pokemon, Kirby was the last Nintendo cartoon period.

I get that Nintendo is protective enough of its characters to not license them out for outside media (other than cameos in movies about games) to the point where they bought the rights to porno parodies of the movie to hide it away from the public forever (shoulda done it with the actual movie instead). But SMB the movie was over 20 years ago. Video Games are no longer the strange, mystifying thing to anyone over the age of 12 anymore. They're since merged into pop culture to the extent that every freaking cartoon references video games to the point where something like Breadwinners looks like a video game. Everyone since that awkward generation of odd cartoon adaptions that works in the field of entertainment grew up playing the things, and have that big a handle on them that some of them even reference Internet Memes based on the games. Look at how successful the Resident Evil series got. It's to the point where it boarders on Adaption Displacement.

The time for a Mario project, even as simple as a comic book, has come.

I don't get why they can't make a live action Zelda. The reason why Mario didn't work is because the series was too cartoony for live action. But I think that Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess would be two great games to adapt, although the special effects would cost a lot…EVERYONE GO BUY A MILLION AMIIBOS SO THEY CAN MAKE THIS! (Okay, buying a million amiibos is not going to help…)

Maybe it will help to stop shortpacking the freaking non-Mario/Zelda characters!!! Seriously. Mega Man and Deedeedee are supposedly out. Not that anyone can find them that isn't the obvious scalper. I don't have a Wii U or any of the games, but the figures look amazing.

Mario isn't going to work in live action. This is true. That's why the movie was the way it was. But Nintendo really needs to stop dwelling on the fact they licensed themselves out to it. They also need to remove said stick up their butts about the DIC cartoons. Those were well over 20 years ago (a fact that makes me almost go mad from the revelation). Meanwhile Sonic Boom, crappy, rushed video games and terrible time slot aside, is doing well for itself. It brought the character back to television after the Sonic X reruns have been mercifully quelled after running continuously for 8 years. Mario's last cartoon will always be Super Mario World, which wasn't that good even for DIC Mario cartoons. Ended over 20 years ago.

With Zelda, at least they translate Japanese Zelda comics and released that huge Compendium of Hyrule. Mario has a lot of toys, but not even a reprint of the Valiant comic series. No outside media for him, except the ever cheapening UAV/N-Circle rererererereleasese of the cartoon series.
