The only thing I like from them are Ho-Hos, and I know other companies make better tasting ones anyway, so...meh :stick_out_tongue:

I'm figuring that Wonder Bread and Twinkies have enough cache to get bought by another company and continued on. I've never been a big fan of Twinkies; they taste too processed compared to similar chain baked goods like Little Debbie cakes.

Hm...yeah. You're right. I think Hostess products taste too processed. Twinkies are disgusting. it's like biting into a sponge filled with chalk ground to a paste.

That explains why suddenly, other companies, like Little Debbie's, have been making their own knock-off versions of things like Twinkies and such as of late.

Not that I really care, I'm not too big on those snack cake thingies anyway.

Ah, good ol' American big business. Screw everything up and blame and punish everyone below you. Closing the factories after threats of a strike and going "too late" not even a week in when they came crawling back is the HIGHEST form of corporate passive aggressiveness. I say this all the time, how come us working class are the ones that have to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, but these CEO's would wither away if they so much as had to give up a fraction of their big fat paychecks that they get big fat tax cuts for?

I will say this... they are losing money no thanks to misguided health initiatives and schools almost imbecilic prohibition on letting kids have not healthy snacks. Like the one Twinkie in the lunchbox is the reason kids are overworked and sedentary... you know... not the lack of gym classes and recess... not to mention the big box banning of any commercials for junk food (and as I've said... Junk food commercial BAD, get rich quick scheme idiot adults always fall for good!)

Sad to hear this since Hostess was a pretty big part of my childhood, and especially sad for all the workers who are losing their jobs, but I'm not surprised since they've been doing many dumb business practices for years.

There's a Hostess plant in Connecticut and this story was all over the news today. Evidently a lot of people at the plant are ticked off because their union approved the new plan for payment and benefits, but because the larger baker's union didn't they're out of a job.

Of course, the news person also had to say things like "And these loyal employees are now wondering how they're going to put bread on the table" like it's a bad SNL skit or something.

If you've filed for Bankruptcy multiple times and don't bother to look at what's wrong with your business practices, you deserve to lose your business. Unfortunately, all the lower level workers don't. That's what's killing jobs in this country. Not health care, not socialism, out and out incompetence and blind gluttony not to mention basing a business model on a house of cards.

I'm sure Twinkees and the rest will come off unscathed, and Hostess will be bought out by Kraft or someone, and they'll move the company to Mexico and charge more for less money put in. That's the American way  .

I find it flimsy and cowardly they're blaming the baker's union. Chances are Hostess wouldn't have survived if this didn't happen anyway. The "Too Late" response is basically bull. They just want a scapegoat for their stupidity. Again, American Way. They'd probably blame Obamacare if the Bakers caved in.

There may be hope for Hostess after all...

The Keeblers Elves as well as many of Santa Claus' elves have agreed to fill in for some of the bakers.

There shouldn't be too many differences aside from a name change to Hostess Ho Ho Ho's.
