"Hemsworth is also rumored to be involved in the Michael and Peter Spierig family animation, The Power of the Dark Crystal. In a loose tie-in to Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss character, IMDB describes the film’s lead as “a girl made of fire” who steals a shard of crystal with the intent of saving the dying sun. The screenplay, written by Craig Pearce, is based on Jim Hensoncharacters."

Family animation?

uh...

okay, other than the fact that that the Spierigs are supposedly off the picture, "family animation?"

Where do these people GET their news? Any news on the Family comedy "Rise of the Dark Night" or the Family Seafood Buffet "The Avengers?"

There's just too many red flags to say this news is any real update.

See, I would agree with you 100%, its like they dont know anything... except this came from the Hollywood Reporter.... which tells me at the very least that it behind the scenes casting and other such info might be very possible, despite the actual movie details being off...

This report and the thing about the FR movie music being penned just seem strange to me. It's like they got old info that somehow got their attention recently. I don't trust that either mean there's any progress (especially since Hollywood reporter says the directors who left months ago are still attached), and remaining optimistic is inviting disappointment. If something big were to happen with the movie's progress, we'd have more first hand details.

Still, I say, get off yer butts and someone make SOMETHING at Henson.

1) They're going off of IMDB information. I don't know if the source is altogether trustworthy.
2) In speaking of trustworthy information, I'm hearing rumors that Henson is gearing up to officially announce POTDC's cancellation. I hope that this is just a rumor, but, at this point, it doesn't seem impossible. The film was announced in 06. I was 16 then. I'm 21 now. That's a long gawdderned time. Henson needs to either get their stuff together or end it.

I don't see why any Henson (or at least Muppet fan) trusts IMDB at all. Considering, according to them, Captain Smollet was going to be in VMX. It's a joke we'll never stop giggling at.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Henson can't seem to do anything but Dinosaur Train, and to basically say what we've all been saying for the past several years now is redundant. I'd like the script to at the very least be made into a novel or a comic book (or a graphic novel... both of them combined), and at least get some acknowledgement there. Henson needs to find a safe partner, and no one wants to partner up with them so they can make poo and pee movies for kids and blood porn for teenagers. I almost wish Disney bought the whole of Henson at this point. At least that would have guarenteed the Fraggles would be on film as a cameo in the Muppet Movie that's actually happening.

I must be a sick sick man that I come back looking for a spark of news even though I realize it's just never gonna happen? I've heard that Henson plans to announce a formal cancelation as well. I'm not surprised. Looking at all of this from a balanced perspective, I have the beloved first film, I am grateful for it. The canceling of POTDC won't ruin my life or any such nonsense. I will get over this.

Why I am frustrated and angry is because we've been led on this journey by Henson. They have not been forthright or forthcoming, opting for silence upon silence upon silence and even taking offense that we, the fans are frustrated.

I am out of words and yet I still continue to write. Interestingly enough, the Henson facebook page has had a behind the scenes Dark Crystal image as their profile pic for some time. Are they telling us something?

A Dark Crystal movie needs a partner, first and foremost. No one's willing to take a chance on a cult film sequel, other than Disney and Tron... but then again, no one seemed to like it much, and they're furiously trying to clear out unsellable, unwanted Tron toys. But that's what you get when the movie's only cult for being a failure.

On the upside, how many movies that have had scripts written, rewritten, thrown out, restarted, and over and over for a decade actually turn out good? Look at Little Nemo in Slumberland. That went through so many directors and writers, and the end result wasn't all that good.

Still, the Fraggle Rock movie makes me a little angry. We've had 7 theatrical Muppet movies, 2 theatrical Sesame Street movies... Fraggle Rock never had, yet deserved a movie. This was the rare time where Henson had the partner, the script, and everything was ready to go, but the studio they partnered with went bankrupt, they had to find a third partner, and then things just went south from there. So, instead of Henson screwing it up, their studio partner did. And they wanted to pull a Hoodwinked 2 and get people to write edgy crap, which really made HW2 a bomb and lower quality than it could have been. I'm glad it's not happening now.
